Hi there! My name is Kana and I deal with all things English at iichi, translating, responding to inquiries, and posting on Twitter and Facebook. I returned to Japan in January, 2011, after spending six years in California, USA, and am now rediscovering and getting newly fascinated with my own culture. I can't think of a better place for that than iichi!

I love people and stories, and that's why I love handmade things. They are not only pretty and elaborate and amazing but they also tell you stories of the people who made them. Whenever I find a favorite handmade item, I feel as if I had just made a new great friend. I hope you will have many such experiences here.

Other things that make me happy include books and films that make me laugh and cry at the same time, time spent on a grassy field with a cup of iced coffee on a sunny and windy day, paw pads of a sleepy kitty, and the moments of epiphany in foreign language conversations.

大切につくられた手づくりのものは、その形や色、手でふれた感じなんかを通して、それをつくった「人」と出逢わせてくれる気がします。
だから、ふと立ち寄った小さなお店でピンとくる手づくりの作品を見つけた時には、新しい友達が見つかったようなうれしくてワクワクする気持ちになるのだと思います。

iichiが、たくさんの人にとってそんな心躍る出逢いの場となれれば、本当にうれしいです。
