James Coenen, Ke-yaki Potteryさま
About
James Coenen, Ke-yaki Pottery
James studied pottery at Creighton University with Jerry Horning, who taught the concept and technique of Bernard Leach as Horning had learned it from Warren Mackenzie, who had worked directly with Leach. James later developed and established his own independent
style of pottery based on the MINGEI, Japanese folk craft, movement founded by Soetsu Yanagi with Bernard Leach, Shoji Hamada and other influential twentieth century potters and artists.
James Coenen established Ke-yaki pottery studio, kilns and gallery in Sayama, Saitama in 2003 and has been producing gas fired glazed and natural wood-fire ware at that location since.
